The top 5 Reasons I chose Hardwood Flooring

Hello There Design Aficionado,

The last couple of months have been a wild ride. We moved back from Florida, unpacked and semi-settled in. Our new to us home was 25 years old with a combinations of hardwood and original carpet in the main living area. We thought, silly us, that we would live it with it for a while.

In just 3 short months, we decided that we NEEDED new flooring in the main living space. Pack most everything back up and start over. Whew!

Peanut says “this carpet is old and the seams are failing. "

After years of studying flooring I knew that hardwood was the splurge I knew needed to happen. Mr. Man knew that too.

  1. It is an authentically natural product. Not printed on. But a live object is just more naturally appealing. Natural products have a timeless beauty that lvp or laminate flooring will never have.

  2. It improves air quality—It does not harbor allergens like dust, mold and pet dander which contributes to healthier indoor air. We all know that health is the real wealth.

  3. It is sustainable—Wood is a renewable resource, often from sustainably managed forests. They can be recycled or repurposed at the end of their long life, reducing overal environmental impact.

  4. Increases home value—Real estate professionals, (ahem, this former home stager) will tell you homes that have hardwood sell faster and for a higher price with a return on investment (ROI) often exceeding the initial cost.

  5. Easy to maintain—keep it dusted and light mopping to keep it looking great.

For one of the first times we didnt DIY it! Our future son-in-law’s (who is a wonderful man)family owns a The Flooring Company in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin. They had awesome reviews so we knew we had to go with them. Plus we knew from meeting Bob, Annette and their son Drew they were awesome people. I drove up to Oconomowoc one morning to see their showroom and choose a what kind of hardwood I wanted and the stain. We knew we wanted a white oak hardwood and stained in a mid tone. My mind was at ease because they use a low VOC stain and finish. My eye kept going to the Weathered Oak stain. Once everything was chosen, they got to work quickly, efficiently and cleaning. We could not be happier with the end result! The hardwood expanded the space and blends so nicely with my existing wood furniture.

Peanut approved!

As you can see, once you start on one thing, it snowballs into something else. Mr. Man got to work raising the height of the baseboard to be proportional at the ceiling height. More on that later. Stay tuned.
